New Music Thursdays on The Aftershock

Earshot – MisSunderstood ****1/2 (Album: TBA)

Review: The new single from Earshot has hit the airwaves and yes…the capital S in their new singles name is actually how it is. The new single is titled “MisSunderstood” and this song has boosted Earshot into their pattern again. Now, you may not remember this band…and that’s ok! They were big a couple years ago with hits like “Get Away” and “Wait” and many others as well…and they are jumping back on the rock scene like none other. This song actually has many ups then it does downs…the rock beat is gentle and most of the song is amazing. The only problem with Earshot is wondering where the hell they have been. Their last “hit” was back in 2005 and it’s been three years since their arrival back on the charts…what the hell happened? Well…some questions can’t be answered, but I can tell you this…they are back and we can definitely expect more from them in the next year or so. Earshot’s newest album is yet to be titled and is looking to hit the shelves this summer. I know I said I haven’t heard and/or seen these guys in a long time…but I know for sure that this album won’t disappoint.

Jet Black Stare – Ready To Roll ***** (Album: In This Life

Review: You know, I say this all time…but when a new band comes onto the rock scene and blows away everyone with a new single…you know they’re going to be a big band within the year. This Canadian band is called Jet Black Stare and their newest single is titled “Ready To Roll” and it is song of the week inside New Music Thursday! Of course there are rock bands all the over world… U.S., Canada, England, Germany, etc. But I think the best bands come from Canada…why? Their singing is unique to everyone’s ears and their sound is phenomenal. I’m not saying they are the greatest all the time, but I like Canadian Rock Bands the most! I don’t know if it’s the lead singer of JBS or the guitar players, but this song is just amazing and I love it…or as those Canadian people say “These damn hosers can play, eh?” The new debut album from Jet Black Stare is titled “In This Life” and from my calculations and searching abilities, the new album should be in stores soon. Just like Hinder, Saving Abel, and all those popular bands…Jet Black Stare will be the next one on the list…I guar-an-damn-tee it!

Opiate for the Masses – Burn You Down **** (Album: Manifesto)

Review: This is a tricky band…why do I say that? They’ve been in rock since 1999 and NOW is when they become well known to everyone…don’t you just love that? This Phoenix band is called Opiate for the Masses and their newest single is called “Burn You Down” and this is a song that will burn you to pieces in a good way…and sometimes bad. Now, this band has a lot of good qualities…they’re post-hardcore and grungy. I like that. If you’re looking to compare this band to another one…I would probably go with Drowning Pool or maybe even Static-X. This song has its moments…the lead singer, Ron Underwood has that grungy singing voice and the band can jam like it’s nothing. The only problem...you can actually compare these guys to another band and sometimes that is a bad thing. I wouldn’t want people listening to me and asking me “Oh, is this the new one from Static-x?” If you think about it, it hurts a little bit inside, but sometimes…it makes you know that you have to change sometime in the near future. The newest album from Opiate for the Masses is titled “Manifesto” and it is due to hit stores and online July 8 th. Like I said earlier…this band has been out for awhile but now is the time to support them and see what they’re all about.
